Last year I was confused when I heard the Admirals were going to take on Hershey in DC and the Admirals were going to be the home team. To me it didn't make any sense because the Washington Capitals are the NHL team for the Hershey Bears. How is a game in DC against Hershey a home game if we are playing a Capitals organization team on Capitals organization turf.
At the end of the season I stopped the owner of the Norfolk Admirals, Ken Young, and asked what's the deal. It turns out Hershey came to the Admirals with the request to put something together closer to the Hershey fans and in a big venue. What Mr. Young and the Hershey organization came up with was an Admirals home game at the Verizon Center in Washington DC.
At the time it sounded like a great deal. An Admirals game in a big venue against one of Norfolk's rivals. What else could you ask for. As I thought about it more and more and as the schedule was announced I got a little concerned on how the Admirals were going to handle season ticket holder advance sales for this game. As I read an email I received yesterday from the Norfolk Admirals front office explaining how advanced sales were going to work my concerns were magnified because I was under the impression season ticket holders had first choice of a seat equivalent to what they have at the Scope. When I logged into the season ticket holder event site to buy my tickets I was a little ticked that my suspicions were correct. It was an open purchase site that any season ticket holder could buy any seat and as many as they wanted. I'll be honest, this made me a little angry.
My thought process behind my anger is I pay for season tickets on the glass every year. If this game were at the Scope I would be sitting on the glass. I feel like I am entitled to my glass seat regardless of what stadium the home game is in because that is what I pay for. With the way advanced purchases were handled I feel slighted because the person who buys season tickets up in the white section at the scope now can get seats other than what he would normally pay for if the game were at the Scope. It may be petty of me to think like this but when I dish out $600.00 a seat I think I should get a little more than the guy who dishes out $400.00 a seat. Now that guy who dishes out $400.00 a seat is sitting in better seats than I am and he bought 6 of them because he wanted to bring his friends and family, yet I am still paying $600.00 a seat and now I am having to sit in what would be a $400.00 seat at the scope because there was nothing else available and no one can tell me there are 5000 season ticket holders (that's about how many tickets were not available according to ticket master.)
With that said... Rabbi out!

After looking at the schedule again I am more confused now. Ken Young last year, along with the letter I received as a season ticket holder to renew my season tickets, said this game was going to be an Admirals home game. But the schedule says this is an away game. The AHL team by team schedule has this as a home game.
